The Jacobite Rebellion refers to a series of uprisings led by supporters of the Stuart dynasty who sought to restore them to the British throne after the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Jacobite forces primarily consisted of those who remained loyal to the Stuart line, including the Scottish Highlands, parts of Ireland, and some English Jacobites. Jacobites found their most ardent support in the Scottish Highlands, where clan society remained loyal to the Stuarts.
